Assistant Audit Manager | £40,000 - £50,000 | Central Manchester | Practice - Consultancy 

I am currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Audit Manager to join one of my clients based in Central Manchester. As an Assistant Audit Manager, you will support the Audit Manager in planning and executing audit engagements, reviewing workpapers, and ensuring compliance with auditing standards and regulations. Your strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively within a team will contribute to the successful completion of audit projects. Responsibilities:

  • Assist Audit Manager:

    • Collaborate with the Audit Manager to plan audit engagements, including defining objectives, scoping, and developing audit programs.
    • Support in the execution of audit procedures, including conducting risk assessments, testing controls, and verifying financial information.
    • Assist in reviewing workpapers, financial statements, and related documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
    • Contribute to the identification of audit findings, recommendations, and improvement opportunities.
    • Assist in monitoring engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, and proactively address any issues that may arise.
  • Team Coordination and Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the audit team members to ensure efficient and effective audit execution.
    • Allocate tasks and responsibilities to team members, monitor progress, and provide guidance and support as needed.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, knowledge sharing, and effective communication among team members.
    • Act as a point of contact for team members, addressing their queries and facilitating problem-solving.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Stay updated with relevant auditing standards, accounting regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures and professional standards.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of audit methodologies, tools, and templates.
    • Contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
  • Client Interaction and Relationship Management:

    • Collaborate with the Audit Manager to establish and maintain positive client relationships.
    • Assist in gathering necessary client information, resolving audit-related queries, and ensuring timely completion of audits.
    • Develop a good understanding of clients' business operations, risks, and industry-specific regulations.
    • Support the identification of opportunities to provide value-added services to clients.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Accountancy Qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA (May consider finalist level who is looking to further study)
  • Proficiency in using audit software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and provide practical recommendations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and interact with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and assuming responsibility.
