Senior Audit Manager | £50,0000 - £60,000 | Central Leeds - LS1 | Practice - Consultancy 

I am seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Audit Manager to join one of my clients in the heart of Leeds. As a Senior Audit Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the audit engagements and leading a team of audit professionals - partnering closely with the Head of Audit. Your expertise in auditing, risk assessment, and client management will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting, exceptional leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of audit methodologies and regulatory requirements.

Day to Day;

  • Lead Audit Engagements

    • Plan and execute audit engagements from start to finish, ensuring compliance with audit standards and regulatory guidelines.
    • Conduct risk assessments, identify key audit areas, and develop appropriate audit procedures.
    • Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and related disclosures to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
    • Identify and communicate audit findings, recommendations, and improvement opportunities to clients and senior management.
    • Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, and proactively address any issues that may arise.
  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Supervise and mentor a team of audit professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Client Management

    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and addressing their audit-related concerns.
    • Understand clients' business operations, risks, and industry-specific regulations to tailor audit procedures accordingly.
    • Coordinate and communicate with clients to gather necessary information, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion of audits.
    • Identify opportunities to provide value-added services to clients and assist in business development efforts.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance

    • Stay up-to-date with relevant audit standards, accounting regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures and professional standards.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of audit methodologies, tools, and templates.
    • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.

Successful Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Proven experience in planning, executing, and managing audit engagements for diverse clients.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of successfully leading audit teams.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
  • Proficiency in relevant audit software and Microsoft Office applications.
