Are you an experienced Credit Controller available for a short-term opportunity? Join a reputable organisation in Reading on a short term contract and play a key role in a fast-paced finance team during a critical business period.

To support ongoing business needs and ensure effective cash flow, our client is seeking a detail-oriented Credit Controller to join their finance department. In this role, you will be responsible for managing customer accounts, resolving payment queries, and ensuring the accurate processing of high-value invoices and payments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage collections for a designated section of the sales ledger

  • Follow up on overdue payments through phone, email, and written correspondence

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding credit limits and payment terms in line with company policies

  • Handle query resolution, investigating and resolving discrepancies and disputes quickly and professionally

  • Manage and monitor high-value invoices, ensuring accurate allocation and follow-up

  • Perform accurate cash posting, allocating incoming payments to the correct customer accounts and invoices

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, payment history, and outstanding balances

  • Assist with the reconciliation of bank and supplier statements to ensure clean financial records

  • Support the implementation of effective credit control procedures to reduce aged debt and optimise cash flow

 

Desired Experience:

  • Proven experience in a credit control or similar finance role

  • Strong track record of cash posting, query resolution, and working with high-value invoices

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Confident working independently and managing workload in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
