Management Accountant – 5 days per week in office (North West London) - Construction - £50k-£60k+ benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to join a dynamic finance team within a fast-paced, multi-entity organisation. This role will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting the strategic performance of two of the business’s larger operational divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and finalise monthly management accounts for two key business units within a wider group structure.
- Work closely with operational leads to evaluate contract performance and provide forward-looking financial insight.
- Review and analyse monthly profit and loss statements, focusing on gross margin, staffing costs, project income/expenses, and overhead trends.
- Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all items are properly reviewed, challenged, and resolved.
- Carry out regular bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy across transactional records.
- Support the month-end close process, driving timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Build and deliver insightful management reporting packs, including key performance indicators and business intelligence metrics.
- Oversee preparation of VAT submissions and manage communication with HMRC as required.
- Coordinate and compile the audit file at year-end and support external auditors with relevant queries.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts, along with involvement in wider financial planning activities.
- Take on additional finance projects and ad hoc responsibilities to support the broader finance function.
Candidate Profile – Skills & Experience
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or finalist) with at least 3 years’ relevant experience, either in practice or industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and non-finance teams.
- Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting and visualisation tools is advantageous.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable learning new systems quickly – experience with COINS (or a comparable ERP system) is beneficial.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and manage stakeholder expectations with professionalism.
