Interim Financial Reporting Controller- 6 Month Contract- Circa £650-£700 Per Day- ACA/ACCA Qualified- Reading (Hybrid)
IN2 Consult is partnering with a high growth organisation in the Reading area on the recruitment of an Interim Financial Reporting Controller to join their
team on an interim basis as the business goes through a period of change.
The role will be responsible for overseeing all technical accounting activities within the group including year-end statutory reporting and audit, preparation of technical
papers and providing insight into complex accounting matters under both IFRS and FRS 102 standards.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring robust and timely financial reporting, leading on technical interpretation of accounting standards, and playing a central role in transaction support and group restructuring initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Group Financial Reporting

Lead the preparation of accurate and compliant consolidated and standalone financial statements under IFRS and FRS 102, ensuring high-quality disclosures and technical accuracy.

Maintain a strong internal control environment around financial reporting and continuously improve processes and outputs.

Manage the full year-end audit process, acting as the main liaison with external auditors and owning key technical accounting decisions.

Prepare and present technical accounting papers, key judgements, and supporting analysis for senior stakeholders and Audit Committee discussions.

Support the Finance Director in board-level communication and take a lead role in meetings with external advisors and private equity shareholders.
M&A Support & Integration

Act as a finance lead on acquisition projects, including financial due diligence and post-deal integration of acquired finance teams and systems.

Responsible for ensuring accurate accounting treatment of acquisitions and preparing combined trading results for new entities within the group.
Tax and Compliance Oversight

Oversee corporation tax and VAT compliance across the group, reviewing calculations and liaising with external tax advisors.

Support development of the group’s tax governance and long-term tax planning initiatives.
Leadership and Knowledge Sharing

Manage and develop a small team focused on technical reporting and play a wider role in finance leadership and team development.

Deliver training and briefings to non-finance stakeholders and Board members to raise awareness of financial reporting requirements and implications.

Act as a subject matter expert on IFRS, accounting policy application, and internal guidance documents.
Process Improvement & Strategic Projects

Develop and maintain a scalable group consolidation model for monthly and annual reporting, incorporating full eliminations and adjustments.

Lead or contribute to finance-led transformation projects including bonus calculation automation, budgeting support, property reporting, and aspects of ESG disclosure.

Support group-wide efficiency initiatives, including rationalisation of legal entities and simplification of financial reporting structures.
What We’re Looking For

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong post-qualification background in financial reporting and audit.

Previous exposure in working within a Top 10 Accounting firm with extensive post-practice industry experience

Expertise in IFRS and UK GAAP/FRS 102, with a deep understanding of disclosure and consolidation requirements.

Experience in managing external audits and handling complex technical accounting issues.

Proven exposure to private equity environments and/or M&A transactions, ideally with involvement in due diligence and post-deal integration.

Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and mentor junior team members.
